Mirrors have not changed much in the last 100 years. Frames have been added and removed and then added again but that is about it. Now with the incorporation of LED lights, mirrors are getting a whole new look.
These new mirrors do require electricity. Some are hardwired into an electrical box behind the mirror and some have a plug where a wire will be seen hanging down from behind the mirror to reach the closest electrical outlet. The LEDs are often dimmable. Another characteristic of the LED is the variance of the light color which can be achieved. The color can be easily changed on many mirrors from cool white to a warmer yellow tone. Some even allow total color change to red, blue or green. LEDs are very versatile.
Some bathroom mirrors also have a built-in heating pad behind the mirror to prevent fogging. I have also seen those with built-in speakers and others with a digital clock display.
A magnifying mirror is also available that is mounted in the larger mirror and has its own LED light around it.
There is also a medicine cabinet version of the mirror.
LED lights are becoming a standard in the home so why not in the mirror.
