Grab Bars
With the aging population, grab bars are becoming a requirement for most bathrooms. This is a universal design that actually benefits all ages.
Grab bars do not have to look like the institutional grab bar we think of when we hear the term. The ones in the pictures above are from the Invisia Collection. The Shower bar on the left has a beautiful soft curve. The middle picture is a bar that can encircle the control knobs. This gives a firm hand hold when working the controls. They have similar circles that have a soap dish in the center. Since the toilet paper holder is located close to the toilet, it often become a support for a person moving onto and off of the toilet. The normal toilet paper holder is not made for a person’s weight, but this one is (as long as it is mounted correctly). They have many more beautiful examples in their collection.
When stepping in and out of the tub, a person may try to use the towel bar as a grab bar. This is not a good idea. The standard towel bar will not take the weight. You must buy one that is designed for such use. I can help you find a beautiful and functional bar for your bath.
OK one more, I could not resist. This is a shampoo bottle shelf. It is elegant but functional.
Just remember that all these MUST be installed correctly and that means it must have strong blocking so it will not pull out of the wall.
